The Transactional Email Problem

If your website does anything more than just display content, chances are it sends out what are called "transactional emails" to admins and other users. This is especially true for e-commerce sites, but are part of any web app that provides even rudimentary functionality.

What are Transactional Emails?

These are emails that are part of the normal process of interacting with website. As an example, a typical e-commerce will have the following transactional emails, at a minimum:

In a previous article, I gave 4 reasons why dropshipping is a bad idea. But just because there are good reasons not to do it, doesn't mean you should shun the idea altogether. There are legitimate reasons to dropship products.

You Have an Established Blog or Website

If you already have an established website about dogs, it might make sense to start selling leashes and dog food bowls. If your blog is well known in your niche, ranks well in search, and already has a lot of unique content, then adding some physical products can actually add value to your visitor's experience. It also cuts straight through some of the disadvantages of dropshipping.

Domain Registry of America Scam

Friends, it's that time of year again. Time for flowers to bloom, fish to bite and time for this year's domain registry scam brought to you by Domain Registry of America. 

When you get their letters, complete with lots of red, white and blue (presumably to increase their acceptance level in readers' eyes), do yourself a favor and throw it in File 13. It is a scam.

Unfortunately, they've been repeating this scam every year and it has those in the know up in arms. If you Google Domain Registry of America, you'll see the word "scam" after almost every search response. They are being sued by at least one legitimate domain registry. So throw their letter away. Immediately.

But this does bring up an important point. If you can't find your own domain registration information, gather it up and keep it in a safe place...someplace where you can find it when you need it. This is vital information for your business and it must be protected.
