Browser Compatibility and your Website: What’s the Big Deal?

As Walt Mossberg with Re/Code points out, new browser debuts generate little excitement these days. Most users have settled in or have scrambled to find their latest browser of choice. And, with the death of IE and the Safari struggle, new browsers, such as the new Vivaldi, are poised to claim the leftover territory.

Browser compatibility is imperative to the life of your website. But, the struggle is real. Why should you invest so much time and effort on just one aspect of your business?

Why it’s important?

Browser compatibility is a key component to consider when building your site. While Chrome is the most used, according to PC Advisor’s article, Safari still holds a close second. With all the choices out there, having your site playing well with everyone means users won’t get discouraged or thrown off by anything out of place or acting awkward.

What’s at stake?

Functionality - By testing your site in a variety of browsers and ensuring that everything works as it should, this will help to prevent any wild and wooly situations that could occur when the minutes count and the interactions with the user matters most.

Perception – Your website is a statement on how you do business and how you will treat future clients. What looks good in one browser but off in another may capture some prospective prospects but cast doubts in others.
