Video: Three Questions to Ask Before Starting in Ecommerce

In this video from EcommerceCon 2012, I go over three questions anyone should ask themselves if launching an ecommerce website, or revamping their current presence.

The three questions:

  • How will you handle fulfillment? - How will the product get to the customer? Their experience and impression of this process will color how they view their entire experience...and it has nothing to do with the website. However, the website can help facilitate the process, so its important to ask this question when getting requirements together. From the moment someone places an order...what happens?
  • How will I get product photography? - The bottom line...hire a professional. Product photography (or video!) is what actually sells your product. Don't skimp on it. Includes other tips for what the photos should be or how they should be staged.
  • What is my mobile strategy? - If anything, it is even more urgent today that you answer this question properly. With traffic on mobile devices rising, and order average order sizes larger on the iPad than other platforms, you can't ignore it. The video makes the point that what you call your "mobile strategy" will eventually just morph into you "strategy."
