Google Sets Sights on Drone Technology

Alphabet Inc, the holding company for Google plans on being able to deliver packages to customers by drones in 2017. According to an article written by Reuters: "David Vos, the leader for Alphabet's Project Wing, said his company is in talks with the Federal Aviation Administration and other stakeholders about setting up an air traffic control system for drones that would use cellular and Internet technology to coordinate unmanned aerial vehicle flights at altitudes under 500 feet (152 meters)." It is no surprise that Alphabet wants to get in the drone industry, as other companies like Amazon are also vying to get a spot in this potentially lucrative industry. However one of the boundaries to them currently is the Federal Aviation Administration, who needs to publish final rules for commercial drone operations. Luckily those rules are expected to be set in stone early next year.
